Use Individuals and Organizations to manage B2B contacts and companies. Link people to companies, import from BRREG or Companies House, and keep data in one place.
Introduction
Why separate people and companies?
In B2B you often care about both the person you talk to (the contact) and the company they work for. The Individuals Module holds people; the Organizations Module holds companies. By linking individuals to organizations, you get one place to see all contacts per account and all companies per contact. Deals (opportunities) and support (tickets) can be linked to both, so you have a full account view.
You can import companies from BRREG (Norway) or Companies House (UK) instead of typing everything by hand. That keeps data accurate and saves time.
Step 1: Add or import the company
Option A: Create the organization manually
- Go to Organizations and click Create Organization (or the equivalent in your app).
- Enter company name, address, and any other details you have (website, phone, industry).
- Save. You now have an organization record you can link contacts and opportunities to.
Option B: Import from BRREG (Norway)
- In the Organizations module, use the search or Import from BRREG option.
- Search by company name or organization number.
- Select the correct company from the results. The integration fills in official registry data (name, org number, address).
- Review the imported data and save. The organization is created or updated with BRREG data.
Option C: Import from Companies House (UK)
- In Organizations, use the Companies House search or import option.
- Search by company name or number.
- Select the company and import. Official name, number, and address are filled in.
- Review and save.
Tip: Search before creating. If the company already exists in the registry, importing avoids duplicates and keeps data consistent.
Step 2: Add contacts and link to the company
Create the individual (contact)
- Go to Individuals and create a new contact. Enter name, email, and phone at minimum.
- If the person works for a company you've already added as an organization, link the individual to that organization. You can do this when editing the individual (look for an organization or company field, or a "Link to organization" action).
- You can link one person to more than one organization (e.g. if they work for several entities or have multiple roles). Set a primary if your app supports it.
- Save. When you view the organization, you'll see its contacts; when you view the contact, you'll see their company.
Why linking matters
- Account view: Open an organization and see all linked contacts and all opportunities for that company.
- Contact view: Open a contact and see which company they belong to and the full history of deals and tickets for that account.
- Reporting and filtering: Filter contacts by organization, or see all opportunities per company, so B2B reporting is accurate.
Step 3: Use contacts across opportunities and tickets
When you create Opportunities or Tickets, link them to the individual and/or organization. That way:
- The deal or ticket appears on both the contact and the company record.
- You can report and filter by account (organization) or by contact (individual).
- Everyone on the team sees the same account picture.
Example workflow
- Import "Acme Corp" from BRREG or Companies House (organization).
- Add "Jane Smith" as an individual and link her to Acme Corp.
- Create an opportunity "Acme Corp – Enterprise plan" and link it to Jane Smith and Acme Corp.
- When you open Acme Corp, you see Jane and the opportunity; when you open Jane, you see Acme Corp and the opportunity.
Best practices
One organization per legal entity
Create one organization record per legal entity (company). Avoid duplicates so reporting and account history are clear. Use BRREG or Companies House search before creating to see if the company already exists.
Link every contact to their company
For B2B, link every individual to the relevant organization. That builds a complete account view and makes it easy to see all people and all deals per company.
Keep company data up to date
If company details change (e.g. address), you can re-import from BRREG or Companies House where supported, or edit the organization manually. Keeping data current improves communication and reporting.
Frequently asked questions
Can one person be linked to multiple companies?
Yes. An individual can be linked to more than one organization (e.g. if they work for several entities or sit on multiple boards). Each relationship can be managed separately.
What data do I get from BRREG or Companies House?
You get official company name, identification number, and address from the public registry. The integration does not provide financial statements or ownership details. See the BRREG and Companies House guides for details.
Do I need to create the organization before the individual?
No. You can create individuals first and link them to organizations later, or create the organization first and then add contacts. Either order works; the important part is that they are linked so you get the full account view.
Who can I contact for help?
Contact support at support@piraja.io.
Conclusion
Manage B2B contacts and companies by using Organizations for companies and Individuals for people, and linking them. Use BRREG or Companies House to import company data when you operate in Norway or the UK. Link opportunities and tickets to both contact and company so you have a single account view.
