Troubleshoot when the Tasks module is missing, empty, or you cannot assign tasks to yourself or others.
Problem statement
The issue
You expect to see Tasks or to assign tasks but something is wrong. This can mean:
- The Tasks module does not appear in your menu or sidebar
- The Tasks module is visible but shows no tasks (or you expect tasks that aren't there)
- You cannot assign a task to a user, or the assignee list is empty
- Tasks you created or were assigned don't appear in your list
Common scenarios
Scenario 1: Module not visible
You don't see "Tasks" in the app. The module may not be enabled for your business, or you may have hidden it in your sidebar.
Scenario 2: Module visible but empty
You open Tasks and see no records. Tasks may be filtered out (e.g. by assignee or date), or none have been created yet.
Scenario 3: Cannot assign
When creating or editing a task, you cannot select an assignee, or the list of users is empty. This may be a permissions or team setup issue.
Step-by-step checks
1. Check if the Tasks module is enabled
- Tasks must be enabled for your business by a business administrator. If you don't see Tasks at all, ask your business administrator to enable the Tasks module.
- After it's enabled, check your sidebar or module list and turn on Tasks for your view so it appears in the menu.
2. Check filters and list view
- If Tasks is visible but empty, check filters (e.g. "My tasks", "Unassigned", date range). Clear filters or switch to "All" to see if tasks appear.
- Confirm that at least one task has been created and (if applicable) assigned to you or your team.
3. Assignee list empty or missing
- If you can't assign a task, ensure your team has other members (or yourself) available. The assignee list usually comes from users in the same business.
- If you were invited but don't appear in lists, ensure you've accepted the invitation and are a member of the business.
