Create your first opportunity and move it through the pipeline. A short guide to logging a deal and updating its stage in Piraja CRM.
Before you start
What you need
The Pipeline and Opportunities modules must be enabled for your business. If you don't see them, ask your business administrator. You also need a customer: an Individual or Organization to attach the deal to. If you haven't added one yet, see How to Add Your First Contact and Link to a Company.
Create your first opportunity
Step by step
- Open the Opportunities module (or Pipeline) and choose Create opportunity (or equivalent).
- Enter a name or title for the deal (e.g. "Acme Corp – Annual licence").
- Select the customer: the Individual or Organization this deal is for.
- Set value (amount) and currency if your app uses them.
- Choose the stage (e.g. Lead, Qualified, Proposal, Negotiation, Won/Lost). It may default to a first stage like "Lead".
- Assign the deal to yourself or a teammate if you work in a team.
- Save. The opportunity appears in the Pipeline and in the Opportunities list.
Move the deal through the pipeline
Updating the stage
- Open the Pipeline or the Opportunities list and find your deal.
- Move the deal to the next stage (e.g. from "Lead" to "Qualified" or "Proposal"). How you do this depends on the UI: drag the card to another column, or open the opportunity and change the stage field, then save.
- Repeat as the deal progresses. When the deal is won or lost, move it to Won or Lost so your pipeline reflects reality.
Why stages matter
Stages let you see how many deals you have at each step and where to focus. Use Tasks for follow-ups so nothing slips. See How to Use Tasks with Your Pipeline.
Best practices
Always link the deal to a contact or company
So you have full context and history on the customer. Never create an opportunity without a customer.
One task per next step
When you say "I'll follow up next week," create a Task linked to the opportunity with a due date. See How to Move a Deal Through Pipeline Stages for more.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have custom stages?
